Please respond to this question.
1) Why do you think that the majority of people in the world now live in urban centres? Please consider: land usage, access to water, pollution, waste management, population density and transit/transportation
urban centres/areas definition: Statistics Canada has defined urban areas using the same methodology based on population size and density since the 1971 Census. An urban area was defined as having a population of at least 1,000 and a density of 400 or more people per square kilometre. All territory outside an urban area was defined as rural area. Together, urban and rural areas covered the entire nation.
2) What are the advantages and disadvantages of urbanization? (Please consider that today is “bike to work day”. Why do we have such days?)
3) Thinking about The Charter of Rights and Freedoms, do you feel that both rural and urban voices are represented?
4) If you were new to Canada (immigrating) where would you most likely end up living? Why?
5) Do you feel that there are enough supports for people immigrating into Canada? What additional supports might people need?
